There are two types of Bursary: 16 - 18 Discretionary Bursary and 16 - 19 Vulnerable Young Person Bursary.

A. 16-18 Discretionary Bursary

 

The College provides financial support to assist with course related costs. This includes travel, equipment, and books. The type of financial and the amount of support depends on your personal circumstances and is linked to your income. You will need to provide proof of income.

 

All bursary payments are made monthly and paid into bank accounts and are subject to at least 90% attendance records.

 

1. Eligibility

You may be eligible for a Discretionary Bursary if you are aged 16 to 19 and have a household income up to £30,000 per annum or are aged 19 to 24 and have an Education & Health Care Plan (EHCP).

 

2. Evidence

  • Recent payslips

  • Recent benefit letter showing evidence of Income Support, JSA, ESA, Working Child Tax Credits, Universal Credit or State Pension)

  • EHCP if aged 19 to 24

 

B. 16-19 Vulnerable Young Person Bursary

You may be eligible for £1,200 over the academic year if you are aged 16 to 19 and living in care or are a recent care leaver, or living independently and in receipt of Disability Living Allowance, Income Support, PIP, ESA or Universal Credit.

 

The bursary is intended to support you with course related costs, such as travel, books or equipment.

 

1. Eligibility

You may be eligible for 16-19 Vulnerable Young Person Bursary if you are aged 16 to 19 and are:

  • In care or a recent care leaver, or

  • Living independently and in receipt of certain benefits

 

2. Evidence

  • A letter from social services confirming you are  in care or recent care leaver

  • A recent benefit letter showing evidence of Income Support or Disability Living Allowance or Universal Credit, Employment & Support Allowance or Personal Independence Allowance
